Jen and John were married in an apple orchard in northern california on a saturday in late august. The day was overcast and cool, making the orchard and surrounding farm a perfect cocoon. Friends and family gathered on this intimate homestead complete with a barn, secret garden, flower beds and a pasture of cows, to celebrate the love of a beautiful couple. Although Jen and I had never met before the wedding day, I felt an instant connection and the feeling that we had been longtime friends. I suppose that is what happens when shared aesthetics collide and excitement for one another’s art is pure. I have never attended or photographed a wedding that was filled with so much love and peace. This wedding was a true collaboration between Jen and John, with months of hard work spent to handmake tables, cutting boards, salt+pepper holders and curate a beautiful masterpiece of intimate vignettes. The overarching presence the entire day was one of selfless love for the other. As toasts were made to commemorate the occasion, sweaters were put on while we danced and talked and sipped wine in the grass by candlelight.
